Innovative Cotton Flocked Latex Glove and Manufacturing Process

Introduction

Flocked latex gloves offer unique comfort and improved sweat absorption thanks to a soft lining of cotton or rayon fibers bonded to the inner glove surface. Guangzhou Red Sunshine Co., Ltd. pioneers advanced flocked glove production technology, ensuring fluffy, stable flocking and a durable, flexible outer latex layer. Below, we detail the patented manufacturing process that sets our gloves apart in quality and performance.

Flocked Latex Glove Manufacturing Process

1. Preparation of Flocking Agent

Short fibers such as cotton, rayon, or other cellulose fibers are cut into the required length and thoroughly cleaned. These fibers are evenly distributed in water using agitation, with the addition of a binder to enhance fiber adhesion. This ensures a uniform, contaminant-free flocking agent for the lining process.

2. Preparation of Latex Compound

Natural rubber latex is blended with the necessary vulcanizing agents, stabilizers, pigments, and other additives. The mixture is fully homogenized, filtered, and defoamed to produce a ready-to-use latex dipping solution. The formulation can be modified to meet specific glove softness, elasticity, or color requirements.

3. Mold Pretreatment

Ceramic or metal glove formers are thoroughly degreased and washed, then dried to eliminate any oil or impurity residues. This guarantees optimal latex adhesion in later stages.

4. Application of Coagulant

A coagulant solution—typically containing calcium nitrate or calcium chloride—is evenly coated onto the pretreated glove formers. This step promotes rapid latex solidification during dipping and assures consistent glove thickness.

5. First Latex Dipping (Base Layer Formation)

The treated formers are dipped into the latex compound, withdrawn at a controlled speed, then rotated to spread the latex into a uniform layer. This step forms the main body of the glove.

6. Pre-curing and Flocking

While the latex layer is still wet, the formers are immediately immersed in the prepared flocking agent solution. The short cotton fibers attach to the inner surface of the uncured latex layer, adhering evenly due to the binder and the sticky nature of the wet latex.

7. Curing and Setting

The flocked, latex-coated formers are heated in an oven at a controlled temperature—typically 100–120°C. This fully cures the latex, ensuring strong interlayer bonding and secure flock retention.

8. Post-processing

After curing, the gloves are thoroughly washed to remove excess chemicals and soluble residues. Water leaching also increases glove safety and comfort. Additional treatments, such as chlorination or powdering, may be applied to further enhance donning and reduce surface tackiness.

9. Demolding and Quality Inspection

Once all treatments are complete and the gloves have cooled and dried, they are stripped from the formers. Each glove undergoes rigorous inspection for flock coverage, surface finish, and mechanical integrity before packaging.
