Introduction: The Rise of Fragrance Household Rubber Gloves
Scented household rubber gloves are increasingly favored by consumers who demand not just protection and comfort, but also pleasant fragrances during chores. Guangzhou Red Sunshine Co., Ltd., with over 20 years of OEM/ODM experience, has pioneered an uprade method to impart long-lasting fragrance to latex gloves, using advanced microencapsulation technology for a truly elevated user experience.
Step-by-Step Manufacturing Process for Long-Lasting Fragrance Rubber Gloves
1. Raw Material Preparation
High-quality natural rubber latex is selected and blended with standard compounding agents (vulcanizing agents, accelerators, stabilizers, pigments), ensuring elasticity, durability, and skin-friendliness. All raw ingredients are carefully filtered and defoamed to ensure glove consistency.
2. Fragrance Microcapsule Pre-Treatment
The key to lasting scent lies in using fragrance microcapsules. These tiny capsules, filled with natural or designer fragrance oils, are engineered to slowly release their aroma over a long period. Before mixing, the microcapsules are pre-treated so their surfaces develop a slight static charge, improving their dispersibility and bond to the latex matrix.
3. Incorporation of Fragrance Microcapsules
Microcapsules are gently mixed into the prepared latex compound. The mixing is carefully controlled to maintain the structural integrity of the capsules—preventing premature fragrance release—while ensuring even dispersion throughout the latex. This results in a glove film where microcapsules are distributed both on the surface and inside the material.
4. Glove Forming – Dipping and Curing
Ceramic or metal hand molds (formers) are cleaned and coated with a coagulant (such as calcium nitrate solution), then dipped into the fragrance-latex mixture. The latex forms a uniform film over the mold. The compound with microcapsules ensures that the fragrance is embedded into the glove during this step.
The dipped molds undergo a precise curing process (vulcanization), generally at 100–120°C, which solidifies the latex and fixes the microcapsules in place, maximizing fragrance retention and glove strength.
5. Leaching and Finishing
After curing, gloves are thoroughly washed in water baths (“leaching”) to remove excess chemicals, unbound particles, and odor-creating residues. This critical step enhances both glove safety and clarity of the added fragrance, as unwanted smells are removed while the encapsulated aroma remains.
6. Stripping, Quality Inspection, and Packaging
Once dried and cooled, the gloves are stripped from their molds. Each glove is inspected for physical integrity, even distribution of microcapsules, and fragrance quality. Final gloves are then packed in moisture-proof, aroma-retaining packaging to preserve scent during transport and storage.
Technical Advantages
- Sustained-Release Fragrance
Fragrance microcapsules offer controlled, long-lasting aroma that activates with motion and heat, delivering a pleasant experience for weeks—even after multiple uses and washes.
- Leaching Resistance
Microencapsulation protects fragrance oil from being washed away, so the scent endures through leaching and daily wear.
- Enhanced User Satisfaction
Gloves mask unwanted rubber odors, improving comfort and consumer preference.
- Consistent Quality and Safety
Process is compatible with food-grade and cosmetic-grade standards. Fragrance options can be customized for various markets.
